Tuesday August 14, 2018 - Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Director, George Kinoti has confirmed that his agency is looking into senior Managers at Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) over tax evasion and corruption.
In an exclusive interview with a major daily, Kinoti admitted that there is massive corruption at KRA and he wants to apprehend the suspects who are popular city businessmen and KRA senior officers including KRA boss, John Njiraini.

Kinoti spoke a day after his boys nabbed a KRA officer and three Kenya Port Authority (KRA) officers in connection with smuggling goods into the country.

Kinoti said the four will be charged jointly with concealing imported goods worth over Sh 6 million.

The four include KRA’s Erick Micheni, while the others are KPA’s Tom Oyugi, Enock Omondi and William Langat.

Micheni, an ICT officer at KRA, is charged with a second count of concealing an assortment of imported goods on diverse dates over the same period.

He is also additionally charged on a third count with being in possession of counterfeit goods contrary to section 32 (A) as read with section 35 (1) of the Anti-Counterfeit Act of 2008.
