Back to the ballot as court throws out the election of Ugenya MP, CHRIS KARAN, after finding irregularities in his win

Friday August 17, 2018 - It is back to the ballot for Ugenya Constituency after the Court of Appeal threw out the election Ugenya MP Chris Karan.

Karan lost his bid to hold on to the seat after the Court of Appeal turned down his petition.

Karan, who contested on an ODM ticket, had gone to the court to try to overturn a High Court verdict that nullified his victory on grounds that he was not validly elected but the court would hear none of that.

After the Court of Appeal’s decision, he said he was ready to face his opponent, former MP David Ochieng’, in a by-election.

He expressed confidence that he will still beat Ochieng’ in the by-election just as he beat him before.

Earlier on, there was drama in court as Karan’s supporters blocked the court’s entrance, chanting ODM slogans and vowing to upset Mr Ochieng’ in the repeat elections.
