This is why KIRINYAGA residents elected WAIGURU as the governor despite being a LOOTER of PUBLIC MONEY

Friday July 13, 2018-Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Mumbi Waiguru is currently in Italy meeting companies that will be buying Kirinyaga coffee directly.

For decades, coffee prices have been low in Kenya due to cartels and brokers but Waiguru wants Kirinyaga coffee to be bought by Italian companies directly without brokers.

In the outskirts of Rome on Thursday, Waiguru met Corsisin Coffee President Patrick Hoofer, who is also chairman of Italy and Francesco Coffee Millers.

The two discussed value addition and how to market Kenya coffee.

Waiguru told Hoofer that over 72 percent of Kirinyaga's population depends on agriculture while over 90 percent relies directly or indirectly on the sector.

The price of coffee has increased from Sh40 to between Sh80 and Sh110 but the Governor said it could be higher.

“My Government is committed to ensuring coffee production is increased. We have put several measures in place to improve yield," Waiguru said.
