SHOCK! UHURU backs the Chinese over the mistreatment of local staff at SGR! Wants Kenyans who leaked information punished

Wednesday July 11, 2018 - The Government of President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, has shocked Kenyans after it defended the Chinese firm tasked with the construction and operation of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) against claims of staff discrimination.

In a statement to Kenyans, Government Spokesperson, Eric Kiraithe, apparently sided with the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) over the discrimination and mistreatment of Kenyans working at the SGR saying Kenyans need to harden up.

He insinuated that the SGR jobs were not for people who prioritised human rights over manning up against new challenges and that the work was beyond transfer of technical skills and involved inculcation of high discipline standards.


Kiraithe told Kenyans who are complaining that the Chinese are mistreating them to quit their jobs and go home and stop portraying China as a country of bad people.

"We must all appreciate that operations of a modern train infrastructural system like Madaraka Express in a consistently efficient manner is a profession which calls for military standard discipline.”

“Ongoing orientation of staff is not about transferring technical skills but inculcating right mindset and set of moral standards," Kiraithe said.

“While we'll protect individual rights and dignity of Kenyans, inward looking 'haki yetu' centred personalities have no place in this kind of profession either now or in future.”

“Current staff are the first crop of Kenyans employed on this project and the culture they entrench will determine whether we'll be able to fully rely on them in less than ten years to come," explained Kiraithe.

At the same time, the Government Spokesman criticised the media for blowing the issue out of proportion.
