RUTO visits Kiambaa Church where 35 women and children were killed by rogue KALENJIN warriors in 2007 poll violence

Tuesday July 31, 2018 - Deputy President William Ruto has for the first time visited Kiambaa Church where over 35 people were killed during the 2007-08 post election violence.

During the fateful day, Kalenjin youths, who were reportedly under instructions of the DP, shut dozens in a church, blocked the door with a mattress and set the church on fire killing 35 women and children.

The youths attacked the women who were from the Kikuyu community because President Mwai Kibaki was declared the winner of the election.

Ruto, who was with ODM Party leader, Raila Odinga, mobolised his youths to reject the announcement of Kibaki as the winner prompting the eruption violence across the country.

Over 1,100 people were killed during the one month standoff and over 500,000 were displaced.
Ruto was taken to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the massacre but he was exonerated in 2016 for lack of evidence.

Speaking on Monday, Ruto said the Jubilee administration will always work in ensuring Kenyans live in peace and that acts of violence will be contained before they spiral out.

"It is my promise that this will never happen again in our country," he said.

  1. Ruto should and must apologise for this hineous act irespective of wheather he was involved otherwise kikuyu still hurts.

  2. I don't think he should have visited. After all the wounds are yet to heal.

  3. If there is one shame Ruto will carry to his grave, it is the torching of innocent children and women in Kiambaa, Eldoret.

  4. There is no evidence that FP was involved....More it was Rao!!!

  5. the whole blame should rest with ondinga, he was the general n i think coprals follow orders as they are from generals. don't understand me wrong i am not exennorating ruto.but there was the mastermind who is raila.

  6. DP Ruto, you have made the wounds fresh by visiting Kiambaa.I think you are just insane. How can you just say something like this will never happen again? That means you know exactly what happened. You will and you are always guilty.Kitaeleweka.

  7. Kenya's Holocaust equivalent. Not easy to forgive. May the innocent souls rest in eternal peace.

  8. Ruto you will never know peace, after killing innocent women and children! what crime did they commit? and in church of all the places!!

  9. Anatangatanga kutafuta hizo kura
