CHEBUKATI is going to JAIL like it or not-He sacked CHILOBA in direct violation of court order and then disobeyed court

Friday July 13, 2018-Embattled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati now risks being jailed for disobeying a court order to reinstate embattled Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ezra Chiloba.

In his ruling yesterday, Justice Stephen Radido summoned Chebukati and Commissioners Abdi Guliye and Boya Molu to appear in court within 30 days to explain why they should not be jailed for disobeying the court.

“The court issues a 30 day notice to Chebukati, Guliye and Molu who purport to constitute the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission to personally attend court to show cause why contempt of court proceedings should not be commenced against them,” ruled Radido.

Chiloba was sent on a three months compulsory leave by Chebukati to allow for audit into the procurement of materials that were used to conduct the 2017 General Election; a move that prompted Chiloba to seek reinstatement though the court, arguing that the chairman did not follow the right procedure in sending him home.

But Chebukati sent him away upon his return, saying the judge had not stopped the commission from sending Chiloba on another compulsory leave.

“Since he is the CEO and various issues have emerged surrounding key procurement in last year’s election, we found it necessary to suspend him pending completion of investigations,” said Chebukati.
