How KENNETH MATIBA helped MOI start his first business - They used to be good friends.

...helped Moi start his first business and even helped him to run it until it took off.

They first met in early 1960s when Matiba was a PS in the Ministry of Education while Moi was Minister - they were 31 and 38 - years respectively.

They became family friends and their children would talk of uncle Dan and Uncle Ken.


When Matiba was appointed CEO of East African Breweries Limited (EABL), he helped Moi put up his first ever business - a beer distributorship firm dubbed Rift Valley Distributors.

He even sent his Personal Assistant, one Sammy Lui, to pitch camp in Nakuru when he realized Moi was not good in matters business until it took off.

They would later fall out when Matiba joined opposition and spearheaded the second-liberation struggle.
