Kipchoim succumbed on Friday morning to stomach cancer at the Nairobi Hospital and has been receiving treatment since 2014.

She did not even campaign for her re-election but still managed to edge out her male opponents.

She garnered 9,299 votes against her closest competitor Charles Kamuren’s (Kanu) 8,905 votes.

“My political journey has not been easy, amid illness. This is God’s making. He makes things work for our good. I am thankful to the electorate for making me proud once more,”

She will be remembered for her courage and determination to broker peace  in Baringo South where bandits and cattle rustlers had wreaked havoc.
