SONKO vows to abolish trade licence and reduce land rates in Nairobi once elected in August

..first 100 days in office, I will abolish permits for mama mboga and hawkers,”

“I will also reduce land rates,” Sonko said.

However, Sonko’s critics have said his pledges are not realistic since the County Government requires money to pay employees and offer services to the Nairobians.

The critics say that the city County enjoys a robust power on finances because of the wide taxation and that if Sonko abolished the rates, there would be no difference between Nairobi and other less urbanised counties.
