MARAGA meets RAILA/ KALONZO/ WETANGULA to prepare them for 2017 polls outcome

Wednesday, November 2, 2016 - Chief Justice David Maraga has moved to rebuild confidence in the Judiciary after he met former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and Bungoma Senator, Moses Wetangula, at the Supreme Court.

The CJ and the CORD leaders held talks with particular focus on the 2017 General Elections.

The CJ is said to be preparing Raila and his team for any eventuality in 2017 to avoid a repeat of what happened in 2013 where the Presidential Elections were disputed.

CORD had lost confidence in the Judiciary after the Supreme Court, under Willy Mutunga’s Presidency, upheld the election of Uhuru Kenyatta as President in 2013 even though there was evidence to suggest otherwise.

It now remains to be seen if the meeting will persuade CORD leaders to trust the Judiciary again ahead of 2017.
