The day WAWERU MBURU saved RUTO from 'Mt Kenya crocodiles’ or ‘tribal KIKUYUs’

Saturday, October 1, 2016 - On Wednesday, curtains fell on Royal Media veteran journalist, Waweru Mburu, after he succumbed to gastric cancer at MP Shah Hospital, Nairobi.

The news of his demise left his ardent fans stunned and in a somber mood.

Many identify with his popular and long-standing show Yaliyotendeka where he gave hard-hitting commentaries on politics and social life.

Waweru never shied away from telling off politicians who strayed, the corrupt and every ill in society.

But six months before he met his maker, Waweru Mburu saved Deputy President William Ruto from the jaws of ‘Mt Kenya crocodiles’ who were trying to ruin his political ambitions.

The crocodiles led by Kiambu Governor, William Kabogo, claimed that Mt Kenya region will not support Ruto’s presidential bid in 2022.

Kabogo’s remarks attracted massive uproar from Central and Rift Valley regions, with many castigating the Governor for the reckless remarks.

Waweru Mburu was among those who castigated Kabogo by asking him who appointed him as Mt Kenya’s spokesman.

Waweru said that Kabogo had failed to control Kiambu County and therefore had no right to comment on Ruto’s presidential ambitions.
