Saturday,
29 October 2016 - Senior Health
Ministry officials have allegedly burnt files as part of a cover up of the Sh 5
billion scandal.
On Tuesday, a local
daily exposed massive looting of Sh 5 billion from the Ministry where the
scandal involved manipulation of the Integrated Financial Management System
(IFMIS), diversion of funds and double payment of goods.
Following the
expose, senior Health Ministry officials were busy burning and hiding files on
Thursday to cover up their misdeeds.
A casual labourer
who works at the Ministry’s headquarters said senior officials led by Health
Principal Secretary, Dr Nicholas Muraguri, were busy transferring files from the
Ministry’s headquarters to an unknown place.
The burning and
transfer of files came a day before Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC)
sleuths stormed Afya House on Friday.
After the raid, EACC
deputy CEO, Michael Mubea, said the anti graft body has formed a special task
force that will investigate the Sh 5 billion scandal.
