Saturday, October 1, 2016 - The Government of
President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto, has received a whopping
sh 31 billion from Germany to support Kenya in the next financial year.
According to a statement sent to the newsrooms by Germany’s
head of press and political counselor in Kenya, Dr. Alexander Puk, the money is
meant to support Kenya in its development agenda and not for the 2017 political
campaigns.
The money will be used to mitigate the refugee crisis in
Kenya, support youth employment, agriculture, rural development and health
sector.
“The longstanding co-operation in water and sanitation will
be gradually phased out to make room for the new focus areas -sustainable
economic development, promotion of youth employment and vocational training-to
be gradually phased-in,” Puk said in a statement.
“Co-operation in other priority areas –agriculture, rural
development and health as well as in a range of other areas will continue,” he
added.
