This is what MURKOMEN said about the Moi University standoff! Is he another tribalist?

... basis of his tribe.

“Making the interview results public will end the speculations,” he said.

Murkomen also called on Education Cabinet Secretary, Dr Fred Matiang’i, and the Ministry of Education to play their rightful role to ensure that the next VC is appointed expeditiously.

He urged Matiangi to ensure that the appointment of the Moi University VC is based purely on merit and demanded that the results of the interviews be made public to allay public anxiety.

The Senator seems to have echoed sentiments made by Uasin Gishu Governor, Jackson Madago, who said Prof Isaac Kosgey beat Prof Laban Ayiro in interviews but Matiangi appointed Ayiro as acting VC.

  1. Murkomen has not said anything tribal. If indeed that mu kale Prof was the top in the interviews, he should be given the position. Am a luhya but I will not shout that Prof Ayiro should be appointed just because he my tribesman. Did Ayiro apply for the VC job? Was he interviewed? Did he score the highest? If yes to all these questions, then let him be given the job. If the mu kale was the top why should he be denied the job.

  2. My learned friend and senator was very careful in selecting his words. He gas simply asked for merit based recruiting of public officers in a transparent manner that should be made public. There is absolutely nothing tribal with this.

  3. Those are facts and even any person can agree with that statement.

  4. Tribalism was exhibited by the two governors openly. Wacha panganga yako sijui you are aluhyia sijui what. There are better ways of addressing these issues but not eti 'wakwende huko' mara 'tutakata miti tufunge barabara'.

  5. Kuku nyiyi let the best person lead moi uni hatutaki kubafu moi uni makende ya nyani,

  6. Murkomen ameongea ukweli.
Matiangi was wrong if he really forced the man who did not even apply for the VC post. Let the winner of the interviewed VC be revealed just like how they did with Chief justice Maraga.

  7. I see Murkomen's sentiments as sober and positive and negates the negatives Matiang'i did at MU.
