How candidates for Chief Justice’s post scored in interview - Full ranking from top to bottom

Friday September 23, 2016 - Court of Appeal Judge, David Kenani Maraga, was nominated by the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) yesterday as the new Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court, replacing Dr. Willy Mutunga who took an early retirement in June this year.

Maraga beat ten others, including renowned Law Professor, Makau Mutua, and the law wizard, Dr. Smokin Wanjala, to emerge top in the interview that bordered around five areas of interest, namely, academic prowess, legal acumen, integrity, independence and administrative skills.

Maraga scored a whole 84% to emerge the winner for the coveted CJ post with Ambassador Daniel Wambura coming last.
