Student who excited Kenyans with her ingenuity after plastic ban honoured by NEMA (PHOTOs)

Wednesday, September 06, 2017 - Remember Hilda Gacheri, the form three student at Materi Girls, who went viral after she used an improvised bag made of banana barks to carry shopping to school after the plastic ban came to effect?

Well, on Tuesday, September 5, officials from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) visited her in school and appointed her an Environment Ambassador.

Ms Gacheri is also set to meet the Environment and Natural Resources Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Judi Wakhungu, on a later date.

Some sufficiently philanthropic Kenyans who were touched by her creativity and boldness offered to pay her school fees.
