Last Friday, Supreme Court judges led by Chief Justice David Maraga nullified President Uhuru Kenyatta‘s win and ordered for fresh presidential election to be held  within 60 days.

Making the announcement on Monday evening, IEBC chairman, Wafula Chebukati, said the fresh presidential election will be held on October 17, 2017.

The commission also said only President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, will be on the ballot.

Earlier on, Education Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiangi had urged the IEBC to conduct the presidential election before October 17 to allow enough time for candidates to prepare for KCPE and KCSE.

The hardworking CS asked the commission to consider the students given that some of the schools are polling and tallying centres.
