CHEBUKATI says he will not resign after conducting SHAM ELECTION

Friday September 1, 2017-Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairman, Wafula Chebukati, has said he will not resign after the Supreme Court said he conducted a sham election.

Addressing a press at his offices on Friday, Chebukati said the Supreme Court never called for his resignation.

The IEBC boss instead asked the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko to investigate the individuals responsible for the irregularities noted by the Supreme Court.

He also said that the electoral body will be making internal changes ahead of the fresh round of polls, whose date they will make known.

The chairman also maintained that they will commit themselves to delivering a free, fair and credible election. He asked the Judges to avail the full judgement so as implement their findings.

In their ruling on Friday, the Supreme Court judges said the IEBC never followed the constitution in conducting the polls and ordered fresh polls in the next 60 days.

  1. Even after such a heavy indictment by the SC, one would think the entire management of IEBC should go and here is "Chi Bukati" closing his eyes. When did we lose our conscience as a people? Spending 42B of tax payers money and delivering a sham election cant prick your conscience.

  2. Chebukati kaa ngumu
