UCHUMI NI MBAYA: NAKUMATT supermarkets closes another outlet over huge arrears.00:00
This is the second outlet to be shut down this year following the closure of its store in Nairobi along Ronald Ngala due to diminishing sales volumes and high operation costs.
The giant retail chain with presence in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya started showing signs of struggle in 2016 when it failed to pay suppliers in time forcing suppliers to start demanding cash on delivery while others stopped doing business with them altogether.
This forced Nakumatt to start selling their own branded merchandise but it seems the strategy is not working and the cookie could be crumbling ala Uchumi supermarket.
