When JOMO KENYATTA appeared in a British movies as a colonial chief in 1934 (VIDEO)

Wednesday, November 2, 2016 - This is a scene from a 1934 British movie ‘Sanders of the River’ where Jomo Kenyatta appeared as an extra.

While Jomo was used as a prop - no speaking role, it's easy to pick him out in the scene from his pose, fixed stare, short stature and his walking style at the end of the scene.

However, Jomo Kenyatta, who would become the first President of Kenya three decades later, came to hate this experience as it portrayed him as a slave to the Britons.

For his cameo role, he was reportedly paid a guinea (1.05) - a substantial amount at the time.

The film, Sanders of the River, is based on Edgar Wallace’s story from 1911.
