Wednesday, November 2, 2016 - Deputy President William Ruto found himself in a precarious situation after residents of Sigoro Village, Baringo County, put him under pressure to buy a bus for a local school.
Ruto had been invited to help raise funds for the purchase of a school bus for Sigoro Secondary School before villagers turned on him and demanded that he be the one to buy the bus and that their contribution will be used for fuel and maintenance.
They also pushed him to the wall to ensure local roads were improved and new ones build.
It forced Ruto to go by what residents demanded and agreed to help purchase the bus, although he was not too happy about it.
“I thought we came here to collect funds to buy the school bus. However, because you have changed your tune, bring what you have and I will buy the bus myself,” Ruto said and giving his sh 2 million contribution.
The DP also asked the area MP, Moses Lessonet, to pick sh 3 million from him in Nairobi for the construction of classrooms.
