RUTO reveals what doctors said that scared him to death forcing him to fly to South AfricaCounty Politics, News 04:14
Sunday November 20, 2016 - Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has revealed why he sought treatment in South Africa over an injury he incurred when he clashed with police officers in Silibwet, Bomet County, two weeks ago.
Speaking after returning from South Africa, where he underwent cheek surgery, Ruto revealed how doctors at Nairobi Hospital, where he was admitted first before being flown to South Africa, scared him to death about his injury.
He said doctors told him to undergo surgery within seven days if he was to live and that it must be done either in India, South Africa, the US or Europe and he settled on South Africa.
“After discussions with doctors in Nairobi, they advised me on ways to seek treatment either in India, South Africa, America or Europe. They asked me to make the decision rather quickly because they had to do it in seven days,” said Ruto.
Ruto revealed that he broke a number of bones under his eyes in the incident where the police lobbed unleaded teargas canister at him, which is why specialized treatment abroad was necessary.
