RUTH disowns RAILA in broad daylight - He is not my brother and don’t call me his sisterEditor's Choice 01:42
Sunday, November 20, 2016 - Kisumu Deputy Governor, Ruth Odinga, has disowned former Prime Minister Raila Odinga saying she should not be referred to as his sister.
Ruth, who is eying the Kisumu Governorship come 2017, told reporters to refer to her with her titles rather than ‘sister to CORD Principal and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’ when quoting her in their reports.
She noted that the habit of referring to her as Raila’s sister has made her look like she is hanging on his brother’s coat to achieve her ambitions saying she doesn’t want it anymore.
“I am a strong woman who has been articulating national issues without necessarily relying on my brother, Raila. And now that I have so many titles, I do not understand why some people must continue referring to me as Raila’s sister and not mention some of the titles I currently have,” said Ruth.
“I feel very uncomfortable being referred to as Raila Odinga’s sister. The fact that I am Raila’s sister does not mean I do not have my own political life,” she said.
