Sunday, November 20, 2016 - A section of ODM supporters from Kilifi County took to the streets to defend Kilifi Governor, Amason Kingi, over allegations of corruption.
Kingi and members of the Kilifi County Assembly have been linked to the disappearance of Sh 1.8 billion from County development fund.
On Friday, Deputy President William Ruto called for the prosecution of Kingi and his men following this scandal.
However, Kingi’s supporters have come to his defence saying Ruto should the last person to speak against corruption Kenya.
The supporters claimed that the Jubilee Government has been linked to mega scandals and therefore not the best to condemn graft.
Paul Mzungu, a protester, accused ODM rebels led by Kilifi North MP, Gideon Mung’aro, of "seeking protection from Jubilee for their past scandals".
"No one should touch Kingi. He has his people. Let the Jubilee Government deal with the big names that have featured in major scandals in this country," Mzungu said.
