MWANGI wa IRIA is minced meat as MATIBA does the unthinkable ahead of 2017 electionsForum and discussion, Politics 04:44
Sunday, November 20, 2016 - The dreams of Murang’a Governor, Mwangi wa Iria, of being re-elected in 2017 were shattered abruptly on Saturday following the entry of Raymond Matiba into the Muranga gubernatorial race in 2017.
Raymond, who is a son to veteran politician, Kenneth Matiba, said he will go for the top County seat in 2017.
Raymond’s father is like a small god in Murang’a and the entry of his son will outrightly change the political matrix in that County.
Matiba was among vocal opposition figures in Kenya who fearlessly fought for Kenya’s democracy by wrestling with former president Daniel Moi’s dictatorial administration.
Matiba who served for long as Kiharu MP in Murang’a eventually led to Kenya acquiring multiparty democracy.
Though sickly now, Matiba remains a respected figure in Kenya and in Murang’a especially for his courage to fight for multiparty space in Kenya and paying the price with his health.
Raymond will now battle it out with Wa Iria and Kigumo MP, Jamleck Kamau, who has also declared interest in the seat.
