MWANGI beats RUTO in first round even after calling him a murderer as court dismisses caseCounty Politics, News 14:43
Wednesday November 2, 2016 - Deputy President William Ruto has been dealt a heavy blow in his fight with activist Bonface Mwangi.
This is after the High Court dismissed his case against Mwangi with the judge sparing the activist from prosecution over alleged hate speech against the DP on social media.
In his ruling, High Court Judge George Odunga ruled that there was no reason to compel the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation to investigate and prosecute Boniface Mwangi for spreading hate against Ruto on social media.
Through his friend, Victor Yegon, Ruto wanted the court to stop Mwangi from posting inciting messages against him on his page.
“There is no evidence the DPP or DCIO have failed in their duties to investigate the respondent. I find that the application lacks merit given that there are Constitutional bodies that can deal with the issue raised,” said Odunga in his ruling.
