Friday, November 4, 2016 - Former Speaker of the National Assembly, Kenneth Marende, has hinted at rejoining Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) 3 years after abandoning the opposition coalition.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Marende also declared his intention to vie for the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat in the 2017 elections using the CORD ticket.
Marende, who is also Raila Odinga’s ex-personal lawyer, said there is no bad blood between him and Raila since politics is about interests and not enmity.
“… yes, I have interest and am angling for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat,” Marende said.
Before his confirmation on Thursday, speculations had been rife that Marende was eyeing the Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
The former Speaker now joins the long list of aspirants who are looking to dethrone the current Governor, Dr Evans Kidero.
Other candidates include Senator Mike Sonko, Dagoretti South MP, Dennis Waweru, and Margaret Wanjiru, nominated MP, Johnson Sakaja, Water CS, Eugene Wamalwa, and Canada-based lawyer, Miguna Miguna.
