Monday, October 31, 2016 - President Uhuru Kenyatta’s immediate family members have issued a presser dismissing reports that their companies were involved in looting Sh 5 billion from the Ministry of Health.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, Uhuru’s cousin, Kathleen Kihanya, denied reports from a leaked audit report that her company received Sh 200 million for goods she never delivered to the Health Ministry.
But she said Sundales International Limited applied and won a contract worth Sh 41 million in a competitive bidding process.
"Throughout the process, we complied entirely with the provisions of the tender, and the transaction was above board,” Kihanya said.
She even asked the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) to start investigating her company claiming that she did a clean job and was entitled to payment of Sh 41 million.
She said Sundales won a contract of supplying to emergency nutrition commodities to the Health Ministry.
Kathleen co-manages the company with Uhuru's sister, Nyokabi Muthama.
