See what KIKUYU elders have said about RUTO’s 2022 bid and what they will do to himCounty Politics, News 23:49
Tuesday, November 1, 2016 - Kikuyu elders in Uasin Gishu County have dismissed claims by a section of leaders from Rift Valley and Mt. Kenya that the community will not support Deputy President William Ruto’s bid for the Presidency in 2022 after Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking yesterday, the Kikuyu elders led by their coordinator, Joseph Mwaura, allayed fears raised by the leaders saying Mt. Kenya will fully back Ruto’s Presidency in 2022.
They blamed unnamed ‘dark forces’ for trying to incite ethnic differences between Kikuyus and Kalenjins, saying such enemies will fail terribly in their nefarious plans.
Uasin Gishu Governor, Jackson Mandago, and Kapseret MP, Oscar Sudi, had claimed that there were plans among the Kikuyu community to support Peter Kenneth for the Presidency in 2022 instead of Ruto after he joined Jubilee.
Similar concerns had also been raised earlier by a section of leaders from the Kikuyu community.
