Quit Nairobi race and let MIKE SONKO take on KIDERO - Jubilee MP tells WAMALWACounty Politics, News 10:04
Saturday, October 1, 2016 - An MP allied to the ruling Jubilee administration has advised Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa, to quit the Nairobi Gubernatorial race in favour of Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko.
The MP, who is a member of the defunct New Ford Kenya Party, asked Wamalwa to seek another seat elsewhere and stop complicating Jubilee’s power matrix in Nairobi.
The MP, who requested anonymity, revealed that talks are underway to convince Wamalwa to change his mind to allow someone like Sonko, who has a massive following in the city, to take on the incumbent Governor Dr. Evans Kidero in 2017.
According to the MP, allowing Wamalwa to face Kidero would be handing the Opposition a free pass. Only Mike Sonko has the support needed to trounce Governor Kidero and deliver the seat to Jubilee.
“Wamalwa has been convinced to leave Nairobi because the chances of Mike Sonko winning are higher," the MP said.
It is rumoured that Wamalwa is being encouraged to run for Trans Nzoia Governorship in 2017.
