Mt. Kenya declares who it will support for President in 2022 after KENNETH’s entry into JubileeCounty Politics, News 23:54
Saturday, 29 October 2016 - Mt. Kenya has come out to set the record straight over who the region will support for President in 2022 after Uhuru Kenyatta.
This follows the entry of former Gatanga MP, Peter Kenneth, into Jubilee Party, a move that is threatening Deputy President William Ruto’s chances of succeeding Uhuru.
According to insiders, Ruto is worried that Mt. Kenya may opt to support Peter Kenneth for the Presidency in 2022 contrary to the agreement with President Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee that they will support him.
However, the region, through Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi, who is the joint organizing secretary of the Jubilee Party formation team, has insisted that t is Ruto for President in 2022 and not Peter Kenneth.
He noted that talk that Peter Kenneth will now usurp the DP, are just cheap talk.
"That is just cheap talk. We know who the DP is and his value to the Party. He is the Deputy Leader and will assume leadership once President Kenyatta retires," Murungi said.
