MAGUFULI mocks UHURU at State House after his sister was mentioned in graft - He criedEditor's Choice, Forum and discussion, News 23:34
Tuesday, November 1, 2016 - Tanzanian President, John Pombe Magufuli, is in the country for a two-day state visit for the first time since he was elected President.
Magufuli was received at State House, Nairobi, by his host, President Uhuru Kenyatta, and was accorded a 21-gun salute before he inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Kenya Army.
The two addressed the media jointly highlighting the ties between both countries and the reason for the visit, considering Magufuli had previously snubbed Kenya in many occasions.
Uhuru made his usual speech emphasizing on the need to work together as brothers and sisters and thanking Magufuli for the visit.
However, when it was his time to address the media, Magufuli indirectly mocked Uhuru by bragging about how his country was doing well economically compared to Kenya and growing by 7.9%, which is way beyond their projected growth of 7.2%.
Magufuli also bragged about how he is winning the fight against corruption thanks to his goodwill to stem out the vice, and that very soon, Tanzania would be a corrupt free country; a statement that seemed as a mockery to Uhuru, whose family is embroiled in the sh5 billion scandal at the Ministry of Health.
It now remains to be seen if Uhuru will borrow a leaf from Magufuli to help him fight corruption head on and without fear or favour.
