KIKUYUs never change! What they did to WAMALWA over KENNETH may happen to RUTOCounty Politics, News 23:55
Saturday, 29 October 2016 - Nairobi politicians from Mt. Kenya have dumped Water and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa, as their choice for Nairobi Governor in 2017, and instead thrown their weight behind former Gatanga MP, Peter Kenneth, who recently announced plans to run for the seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, Jubilee MCAs led by Deputy Minority Leader, Chege Ngaruiaya, welcomed Kenneth to the already crowded Nairobi race, saying they will support him in 2017.
The MCAs denied ever endorsing Wamalwa for Nairobi Governor despite evidence saying otherwise.
“We would like to welcome Peter Kenneth to vie for Nairobi’s top most seat because his track record has proven that he can run and solve its issues,” said Chege.
The sudden change of heart by Kikuyu MCAs from supporting Wamalwa to supporting Kenneth should serve as a wakeup call to Deputy President William Ruto because he may be abandoned just like that by Central Kenya in favour of Peter Kenneth in 2022.
