IEBC mocks RAILA & says UHURU will still beat him if elections are held today! Seriously?County Politics, News 14:54
Monday, October 31, 2016 - Outgoing commissioners of the troubled Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have warned politicians to keep politics out of the electoral agency ahead of the 2017 General Elections.
Speaking yesterday during the thanksgiving ceremony of Commissioner Thomas Letangula in Nakuru, the outgoing commissioners led by vice chair, Lillian Mahri Zaja, asked the Opposition to keep politics out of IEBC and let the incoming commission perform its duties without any interference.
They noted that their decision to resign from office was driven by the need to uphold peace in the country.
On his part, Letangula defended their decision to declare Uhuru Kenyatta as the winner of the 2013 General Elections saying he would still beat former Prime Minister Raila Odinga if elections were held today.
“Those shouting the loudest and serving in the Senate and the National Assembly have nothing against how the commission conducted the 2013 elections, but their concern is why their Presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, was beaten. Let me assure them that if 2013 elections were repeated today, Uhuru would still win,” said Letangule.
