Saturday, October 1, 2016 - The President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy, William Ruto’s dream of providing laptops to Standard One kids to enhance digital learning is finally here as Jubilee Government began distributing the 1.2 million digital tablets to public schools on Friday.
Uhuru assigned Cabinet Secretaries to various regions to officiate the distribution of tablets.
Over 23, 000 public primary schools are set to benefit from the first batch of tablets in the first phase.
According to the schedule by the Ministry of Education, at least 60 primary schools across the country will have their tablets given to teachers and pupils by the end of next month.
The sh 19-billion Digital Learning Project (DLP) will be implemented in two phases, with the second phase scheduled for next year.
It is estimated that by the end of next year, about 600, 000 tablets will have been distributed and installed across selected schools.
