Tuesday, October 25, 2016 - At least twelve people have died and several injured after a suspected Al Shabaab attack in Mandera.

According to Mandera East OCPD, Ezekiel Singoe, the 12 victims included ten artists who were visiting for set book performances for Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam candidates at various schools in the county.

The attackers used improvised explosive devices to break the metallic doors at the lodge before shooting the 12 dead in their rooms.

Job Boronjo, Mandera County Police Commander confirmed the attack saying:

“We are monitoring the situation. My officers are on the ground. We will give the details when the day breaks”

Three weeks ago, the Somali-based militants attacked a residential area in Mandera populated by non-locals killing six people and leaving several with serious injuries before they were repulsed.
