MARAGA faces rejection as Jubilee MP vows to oppose his nomination over a murder case

Tuesday September 27, 2016 - Ainamoi Member of Parliament, Benjamin Langat, has vehemently opposed the nomination of Court of Appeal Judge, David Maraga, as the next Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court replacing Dr. Willy Mutunga who retired early June.


Langat, whose brother’s killer was handed 10 years in prison by Maraga, vowed to lobby fellow MPs to reject him as the next Chief Justice.

He said Maraga’s ruling in 2009 handing the killer of his brother, David Too, on January 31st, 2008, who murdered him only weeks after his election as Ainamoi MP in the 2007 General Election, proved he cannot dispense justice.
