Functional pure gold (18-karat) toilet opens to the public in New York (See PHOTOs)

Monday, September 19, 2016 - A New York museum has set up a working 18-carat solid gold toilet in one of its washrooms.

The golden toilet dubbed "America" has been opened to the public but to use it, one has to pay $15 equivalent to Ksh 1, 500.

The toilet requires a cleaning after each use, and will have a round-the-clock security guard watching over it.

The loo is located in the fourth floor of the Guggenheim Museum by Italian artist, Maurizio Cattelan, who says he wanted to make an extravagant luxury product seemingly intended for the ‘greedy one percent’ available to the public.
