ALFRED MUTUA does it again as he launches the largest security measures ever -modern police patrol cars/ CCTV cameras and trained dogsNews 06:40
Friday January 31, 2014 - Machakos Governor, Dr. Alfred Mutua, on Thursday flagged off the largest ever security contingent in the country to tackle the rising insecurity in Machakos County.
The contingent includes 120 modern and fully equipped police patrol cars, 400 CCTV cameras and 50 highly trained German-Shepherd dogs.
Speaking during the flag off, Governor Mutua noted that police patrol was key to boosting security not only in Machakos County but the country as a whole.
He recognized that security was not only a preserve of Uhuru/ Ruto’s Jubilee Government but all the stakeholders in the country including the citizenry.
“Security is not a National Government or County Government issue only. I am asking all of us to discourage crime by not buying goods they know or suspect are stolen and also to identify and report criminals in their neighborhood to the authority”, noted Mutua.
Mutua further said he would double the cars in the next financial year in order to create an enabling environment for a 24-hour economy.
Each village in Machakos will have a police patrol car to respond to security issues and will be fueled all the time to avoid excuses of there being no fuel in times of emergencies.
This comes even as other Governors like William Kabogo are still engaged in altercations with elected leaders as well as corruption that has seen Embu Governor Martin Wambora impeached by his MCAs.
