WILLAM RUTO drops KIOKO KILUKUMI as his ICC lawyer as The Hague date nears as KHAN leads teamNews 14:45
Tuesday August 13, 2013 - The Kenyan DAILY POST has learnt that Deputy President, William Ruto, has formally dropped Kioko Kilukumi as one of his defence lawyers at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
According to sources privy to ICC cases, Kilukumi’s name is missing from the list of Ruto’s defence which was presented to The Hague based court last week.
On Tuesday, Kilukumi who was once nominated as the Director of Public Prosecution by former President Mwai Kibaki, could neither confirm nor deny if he was no longer part of Ruto’s defence.
“You will get to know that in due course,” he said.
This now means that the defence of William Ruto and that of President Uhuru Kenyatta has no Kenyan lawyer.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto and radio presenter Joshua Sang were indicted by the ICC in connection with 2007-08 post election violence and their trials commence later this year.
