Alarm raised as 18 pupils are confirmed PREGNANT in Mt Elgon

Tuesday 11th June 2013 - Teachers and parents of Chepkurkur Primary school in Mt Elgon are a worried lot after 18 pupils were confirmed pregnant after undergoing a pregnancy test.

The parents and teachers had a meeting at the school to discuss the issue because many pupils were dropping out of school and getting married.

A test was recommended and to their surprise, 18 girls were pregnant. What was shocking was the fact that some were as young as class four and five.

While speaking to the media, the headteacher of the school expressed his concern over the rising number of school dropouts. He said that many girls drop out of school and this affected their performance as compared to boys.

He promised to bring to book all the men who impregnated the girls because they are known to them. He also urged the parents to talk to their children about morality and not shy to discuss s*x related topics.

  1. mass insemination? vision 2030 nayo?

  2. sexually active at this tender age!God have mercy for these are end times....

  3. The name of the school should be changed.

  4. Circumcision can help. Stitching together in a hospital mpaka wamalize. Somalis used this for many years until the NGOs came. If you try a properly stitched girl you get injured. Looks cruel but zipping up is better than early pregnancy and dropping out of school. I imagine we do not have enough bullets otherwise I would have recommended all the men in the area be shot.

  5. I THINK IT IS GOOD FOR THE GIRLS TO BE SUPER GLUED COS THEY ARE ALSO CONTRIBUTING TO THEIR FAILURES OTHERWISE WHO TOUGHT THEM ABOUT S..X AND THE WAY IT IS BAD WHEN ONE IS YOUNG VERY YOUNG INDEED, SUPER GLUE THEM PLEASE.

  6. wonders and the men who pregnated the girls are they young boys too or mature men.eeee si dunia imekwisha std 4 those are babies.

  9. NOW THESE ARE THE REAL ISSUES KENYANS SHOULD ADDRESS. CIVIC, SEX AND MORALITY EDUCATION REALLY WANTING IN KENYA. WACHANA NA ILE YA UHURUTO AND RAO AND CONCENTRATE ON SUCH TOUCHY MATTERS - THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW!!!!!!!!! - NGILU, SHEBESH, MILLY ODHIS, MARTHER KARUA, ETC - WHOM ARE YOU GROOMING IF THIS IS THE TREND?

  10. Terrible suggestions out there. We don't need a tooth for a tooth solution, these circumcision and zipping radical stone age solitions!! By the way in mt. kenya they do circumcise the females which i wish they could stop because as you see it will not stop pregnancy from occuring. These girls now need support and love and understanding from their parents and the community as a whole so that they can overcome. There need to be a mass sexual education from school and also in the commnity as a whole. Girls also taught tactics of how to defend themselves when raped or persuaded into sex, about peer pressure from other girlfriends and families who want to use the girls to get dowry(get rich quick) should be condemned.Encouraging abstinence at least till 16 should help and later normally condoms and having same boyfriend. The girls should realise why schooling is important and that they are the leaders of tomorrow. I feel sorry for the six year olds being rapped. Surely and young girls who can hardly bare may die during birth. I hope the families take it as a lesson and cooperate with their girls also realise they are victims who need help and love. I also hope they can return to school once they square out these issues. Good luck to them!
