Pastor LYNCHED over GANG INVOLVEMENT allegations in Lugari

Sunday 19th May 2013 - An angry mob yesterday lynched a pastor of Baptist church in Lugari for allegedly collaborating with a gang of armed robbers in theft of motorcycles.

According to eye witnesses, Pastor Justus Wanyama Karano was frog marched from his home by the enraged bodaboda operators up to his church and beaten thoroughly. He was later on stripped naked before being burnt with a tyre.

The angry villagers claimed that the pastor was collaborating with the thugs and covers them up pretending to be part of his flock.

The incident angered the family and the congregation the pastor leads leading to a heated confrontation between the two groups with the deceased side promising to revenge his death.

Fortunately the area MP Ayub Savula intervened and calmed the situation. He called on harmony and urged the public to calm down because the police were already investigating the matter with a view to arresting all the perpetrators.

Savula who was accompanied by the area police boss warned that cases of mob justice will not be tolerated and called on the residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands.

The body of the deceased was taken to Webuye District Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem examination.
