KNEC pushes deadline for registering candidates for 2014 exams to NOVEMBER

Monday, the 27th of May 2013 - The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) has pushed the deadline for registering Form 3 and class 7 students for 2014 national examinations to November.

The students were initially supposed to register for the 2014 exams in June and July so as to avoid the rush that usually happens at the beginning of the year that sometimes leads to some candidates being left out.

A circular signed by KNEC head, Paul Wasanga, also explicitly states that no examination fees should be collected during the pre-registration exercise;

“The deadline for pre-registration of Standard Seven and Form Three candidates who intend to sit the 2014 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations has been extended to begin from 1st and end by 30th November this year,” reads the circular.

“The pre-registration is not meant for collection of fees but for monitoring and planning purposes. Collection of fees will be done between January and March 2014,” it adds.

The requirement to register the students early is also seen as way of preventing some schools from blocking some weak students from sitting the exams as a way of boosting the school’s mean score.

  4. THESE ARE THE KIND OF CEOs WE NEED IN KENYA, PEOPLE WHO CAN THINK. AM PROUD OF YOU WASANGA.

  5. But this should not deny students who do not do well and wish to repeat for a second chance.KNEC should know there are slow learners and might not make it in a first sitting, but do extremely well when they repeat! There is no point of having so many failures who cannot be absorbed anywhere after results are out.
