UHURU/ RUTO send CABINET list to the NSIS for scrutiny …… 4 Senior POLITICIANS axed

Saturday April 13, 2013 - With only a day remaining before the Jubilee Government names it’s Cabinet, President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent the names of his likely Cabinet nominees to the National Security Intelligence Service (NSIS) for background checks.

The NSIS will check with the Kenya Revenue Authority to ensure the proposed nominees are tax compliant.

The NSIS will also consult with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) to ensure that the nominees are not corrupt.

Uhuru and his Deputy President William Ruto want to prepare a list that will not raise question in Parliament when they present it for vetting.

They do not want nominees to have ongoing cases or investigations related to corruption or abuse of office.

Credible sources said Uhuru and Ruto have already disqualified four former Ministers for their involvement in misappropriation of public funds during their term in offices.

“There are at least four politicians who were Ministers in the grand coalition Government that Uhuru and Ruto have already struck out of the initial list for their questionable past in running of public affairs,” the source said.
