Friday, the 19th of April 2013 - Reports indicate that at least four people were killed this morning and seven others injured in a road accident along the Thika-Nyeri highway.
The accident is said to have happened at the Makuyu blackspot where 9 people were killed in a similar crash last week.
The accident has been confirmed by Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru who revealed that one of the deceased’s had died on impact;
“One person died on the spot while three others succumbed to injuries in hospital,” he said.
“There was a head-on collision between a matatu and a light truck,” he confirmed.
Kimaru also called on all motorists to be careful on the road especially because of the recent rains which have impaired visibility and made the roads slippery.
A report released by the Traffic Department last week revealed that at least 904 people have died in road accident since January. Among the dead are 395 pedestrians, 79 drivers and 272 passengers.
