SAD NEWS: 4 DEAD in ACCIDENT on Thika-Nyeri highway this MORNING

Friday, the 19th of April 2013 - Reports indicate that at least four people were killed this morning and seven others injured in a road accident along the Thika-Nyeri highway.

The accident is said to have happened at the Makuyu blackspot where 9 people were killed in a similar crash last week.
The accident has been confirmed by Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru who revealed that one of the deceased’s had died on impact;
“One person died on the spot while three others succumbed to injuries in hospital,” he said.
“There was a head-on collision between a matatu and a light truck,” he confirmed.
Kimaru also called on all motorists to be careful on the road especially because of the recent rains which have impaired visibility and made the roads slippery.
A report released by the Traffic Department last week revealed that at least 904 people have died in road accident since January. Among the dead are 395 pedestrians, 79 drivers and 272 passengers.

  1. Who will tame these rogue matatu's

  2. SPEED KILLS MATATU DRIVERS USUALLY TEMPT MOTHERNATURE AT THE EXPENSE OF INNOCENT PASSENGERS PLEASE ANY PERSON WHO DRIVES CAN REVEAL THAT AT TIMES THEY GET FRISKS BUT JUST ASSUME , NEXT TIME YOU BOARD A DUBAI MATATU PLEASE TELL THE DRIVER TO COOL DOWN HIS HEELS CAUSE THE DESEASED WERE AS ALIVE AS YOU ARE NOW

  3. The Government should have a process of vetting the Matatu drivers and also MICHUKI RULES should be put into practice. More Kenyans are dying in Matatus than in any other mode of transport because the Matatu drivers care more to CASH THAN HUMAN BEINGS.

  4. Something should also be done not only on the matatu's but the big buses plying Githurai.

  5. Every time we brame this or the other but if we follow the michuki rules to the latter this will be a forgotten problem

  6. we always so quick to blame matatu drivers whenever an accident occurs, am sure we have some good matatu drivers out there its possible like in this case maybe the truck driver is the one who was in the wrong, all the same since its happened and we cant cry over spilled milk the best we can do is we be catious with our lives and other peoples lives too.

  8. Along this road kenyans will continue to die due to police negligence. There r numerous road blocks that serve no purpose. They r meant to enrish boys and girls of blue. Change all police along this road or apoint goodwill kenyans who will ensure matatus r not overloa
    ded, lorries have reflectors, motorbikes r not driven againts the road.
