Mwingi residents PROTEST over INSECURITY and LAZINESS of the police

Sunday 21st April 2013 – Business came to a standstill early Friday morning in Mwingi town after over 200 Mboru residents staged a demonstration over what they termed as laxity by the security personnel and police 0fficers deployed in the area.

They were protesting a recent incident where a decomposing body of a pharmacist was found rotting in a residential house adjacent to the Mwingi police camp.

Speaking to the media, residents who were waving placards and twig leaves blamed the security personnel for sleeping on their job saying that this brings to 5 the number of people murdered in the area this year.

They said that the failure to defend residents within the town has exhibited a negative impact on investors since very few of them are willing to trade in an insecure environment. Most of them have shied away from the area due to high insecurity levels.

They also said that there are muggings in the town which have gone to unprecedented levels.

The residents have now called upon the Mwingi town Police OCS Jonathan Wafula to immediately find a solution to this rampant problem of insecurity to avert the loss of lives.
