KTN’s MOHAMMED ALI and JOHN ALLAN NAMU to be given EXTRA SECURITY …..DEATH threatsEntertainment News, Media News 08:10
Sunday, April 21, 2013 - Shortly after releasing the explosive story on the deaths of former Internal Minister George Saitoti and his assistant Orwa Ojode, KTN’s investigative journalists Mohammed Ali and John Allan Namu have been living in fear of their lives.
On Wednesday, the duo who said the death of Saitoti as murder were issued with death threats on their phones and also on social media.
“We received threats two days ago, and it was made clear that we were being watched, and there was a plan to eliminate Mohammed and myself,” John Allan Namu told CPJ.
According to them the death threats originate from Kenya’s internal security apparatus and now the police say that they will give the duo extra security.
“We hold Kenyan authorities responsible for the safety and well-being of Mohammed Ali and John-Allan Namu,” said CPJ East Africa Consultant Tom Rhodes. “These threats are clearly motivated by the journalists’ report, which raised the possibility of official involvement in the crash.
