Nairobi Governor EVANS KIDERO officially sworn in – RAILA ODINGA attends

Wednesday, the 27th of March 2013 - Evans Kidero has officially been sworn in as the new Governor of Nairobi at an elaborate ceremony at Uhuru Park.

The swearing in ceremony was carried by Justice Msagha Mbogholi.

Kidero had not spoken at the time of posting this but Transition Authority Kinuthia Wamwangi said that it would take some time before Kenyans get the full measure of devolution;

"County governments mark an exciting part of our country's history. But ample time is needed for the public to understand how it works," he said.

Also speaking at the ceremony CIC commissioner Peter Wanyande said the swearing in of county officials "signifies the coming into reality of the devolved system as provided for in the Constitution".

"Governors will be required to give meaning to the Constitution and statutory provisions in its entirety," he added.

Also present at the ceremony was Prime Minister Raila Odinga and officials from other constitutional commissions.
