Friday, the 22nd of March 2013 - The swearing in ceremonies of 1,450 elected county representatives is currently in progress at the respective County headquarters across the country.
The ceremonies come just a few days after the names of the elected County representatives were gazetted by the IEBC.
The High Court in Nairobi yesterday stopped the IEBC from gazetting the names of the nominated County reps until it rules on a case filed by the Gender Commission.
In Nairobi, the swearing in ceremony of the 85 elected county reps is being presided over by High Court Judge Msagha Mbogholi at the County Hall.
Under the new devolved system Nairobi will be led by Governor-elect Evans Kidero after he is sworn in on March 27th. Kidero will appoint an executive team to assist him.
Nairobi has the highest number of County reps followed by Kakamega and Kiambu which have 60 county representatives each.
