RAILA ODINGA meets a HOSTILE RECEPTION in Nyanza – BOOED and HECKLED
Politics 06:40
Wednesday February 6, 2013 - Prime Minister Raila Odinga met a tough
rebellion in Homabay County on Wednesday, after irate youths heckled and booed
him as he addressed them at a CORD rally.
The incident started after the PM told
his supporters in dholuo to vote for
ODM candidates only and ignore other affiliates.
Speaking at Homabay Stadium, the
PM told a mammoth crowd to adopt the six
piece format at the polls by electing only ODM aspirants at all levels a
thing which made the crowd more irritated. There were earlier unconfirmed
reports that stones were even pelted at his convoy while snaking through Homa Bay
especially directed at Kajwang’s car but the incident was quelled quickly.
At some point Immigration Minister
Otieno Kajwang who is running for the Homabay Senate seat on ODM ticket, was
forced off the stage as tension generated.
The angry crowds told the PM off and
vowed to reject any ODM candidate who was given direct nomination in the whole
Nyanza region.
